Die Bl\u00e4tter sind dunkelgr\u00fcn, gezackt und nehmen im Herbst rote Farbt\u00f6ne an. Auf ein- oder zweij\u00e4hrigem Holz entwickeln sich Bl\u00fcten, die uns von Juni bis zum Frost mit Violettt\u00f6nen erfreuen. Wie andere Hortensien ist auch diese Sorte ein nat\u00fcrlicher Indikator f\u00fcr den S\u00e4uregehalt des Bodens. Wenn die Pflanze also in neutralem oder alkalischem Boden w\u00e4chst, werden die Bl\u00fcten rosa gef\u00e4rbt. Wenn der Boden jedoch sauer ist, bl\u00fcht die Pflanze mit blauen Bl\u00fcten.
